Originally, we stepped in to support Green Patrol after our collaboration with Yayasan Hutan Untuk Anak ended due to a breach of our Memorandum of Understanding. We hoped to save at least the anti-poaching operations, continue monitoring the critically endangered Sumatran tigers, and disrupt poaching activity in the region. In 2024, a renewed permit for tiger monitoring in Gunung Leuser National Park gave us hope — a promise of renewed mission and purpose.Naše původní snaha navázat na spolupráci, která skončila po porušení dohod (MOU) ze strany organizace Yayasan Hutan Untuk Anak, byla upřímná a silná. Pokusili jsme se zachránit alespoň Green Patrol a její mise chránit tygry, monitorovat jejich výskyt a narušovat pytláckou činnost. Obnovená licence pro monitoring tygrů v NP Gunung Leuser v roce 2024 v nás vzbudila naději – opět jsme se mohli vrátit do terénu a podpořit boj proti pytláctví.

But that promise never materialized.

Despite our continuous support and efforts to inspire a more proactive approach, we saw no meaningful progress. The Green Patrol team consistently failed to respond with the urgency and dedication the situation demands. Reports came in late, images from camera traps were scarce, and anti-poaching activities showed no tangible results. Over eighteen months of work in Gunung Leuser, not a single poaching group was reported or investigated, and no concrete actions were taken to address signs of poaching activity.Navzdory opakovaným výzvám a snaze motivovat tým Green Patrol k aktivnějšímu přístupu jsme neviděli žádný skutečný pokrok. Místo skutečné odhodlanosti, invence a odpovědnosti přicházely zpožděné reporty, minimum záznamů z fotopastí a nulové výsledky v odhalování pytláckých aktivit. Za rok a půl činnosti v NP Gunung Leuser nebyla nahlášena jediná odhalená past ani kontakt s pytláky. Jen data. A hezká data bez dopadu nejsou důkazem efektivní ochrany.

As time went on, our concern grew: Were we investing our supporters' contributions wisely? The answer, sadly, became clear.S každým měsícem narůstala nejistota, zda vynakládáme prostředky dárců smysluplně. A to si v ochraně přírody nemůžeme dovolit.

After lengthy internal discussions and careful consideration by the Justice for Nature board and team, we officially made the decision in late May 2025 to end our support for Green Patrol as of July 1st, 2025. The Green Patrol team, under the local organization Pahiles, will retain all equipment we have provided — including the 8-hectare property with a watchtower near the Sekelam River, purchased by us in 2024. We consider this a final gesture of goodwill and recognition of the years of collaboration and training we provided.konci května 2025 rozhodli o definitivním ukončení podpory Green Patrol k 1. červenci 2025. Bereme to jako naše rozloučení i poděkování za společnou cestu. Nyní mají vše potřebné, aby mohli pokračovat bez nás.

Our mission, however, remains unchanged: direct, effective protection of wildlife and biodiversity.
